Online Programme|

As the expansion of digital technology enables us to connect with each other anytime and anywhere, a lack of human connection keeps us “socially distanced”. The Power of Human Connection, a volunteering initiative launched in 2020 and participated by over 2,000 Standard Chartered volunteers and 9,000 youths, returns this year to encourage our community to foster meaningful connections with each other through the arts. This year, Standard Chartered volunteers continue to take the lead in creating feathers with personal affirmations inspired by their own positive characteristics. A series of online content, including a peaceful audio guide and tutorial videos that explore Chinese and English lettering techniques, is available for participants to pause, reconnect with themselves and spread encouraging affirmations through art creation. Collected feathers will form a large-scale community-wide public art installation that resembles a giant pair of colourful wings to spread encouraging affirmations to the community.

How to join

Step 1:
Listen to the English or Cantonese audio guide and calm your mind to rediscover your positive characteristics.

Step 2:
Watch the short tutorial videos and learn fundamental Chinese and English lettering techniques.
Samples of font styles, decorative patterns and short affirmations can be found here.

Step 3:
Prepare both feather templates and marker and gel pens to create your lettering design on the coloured side of the templates. Using the lettering techniques that you just learnt, craft a two-word affirmation that best represents your unique characteristics. You can use one template for English lettering and the other one for Chinese lettering.

Step 4:
Place both of your feathers in the return envelope, write your staff ID in the space provided at the bottom of the back of the envelope and submit your artwork to Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation on or before 20 August 2021. Selected feathers will form a large-scale community-wide public art installation that resembles a giant pair of colourful wings to spread positivity to the community.
